TV. Varadharajen
Drama Artiste, Tamil Nadu, India

Biography

TV. Varadharajen is on the amateur Tamil Stage since 1975. En Kelvikkenna Bathil, was the first drama that heralded the beginning of his artistic life on the stage in the year 1975-77 that is coterminus with his entry into Doordarshan as News Presenter. Thirty seven years ago if you had tried to look him up in the Theatre Directory, you would have drawn a blank. Today, he is a consummate drama artiste in his own right, exuding an authoritarian and relentless charm with lots of get-up-and-go. Between the glories and grotesqueries of the stage, he is a permanent fixture, as it were.

The stage announced its claims upon him very many years ago and he has not looked back – always on the march – caught up with his destiny. He is UV’s Hero TVV. Today he is able to separate confidence from conceit because he did not erupt; he evolved. A creative artiste’s first visiting card is the art he practices and certainly not the tags by which he is known. Varadharajen has the gift of lifting the commonplace into something infinitely and vividly interesting by the sheer character and life of his histrionic talents.

He has directed four of his troupe’s dramas, JODIPPORUTHAM .KALAKKARA CHANDRU, PRAMADHAM., VAASTHU VASU , PLASTIC KADAVUL and has dramatised REEL ESTATE, IPL KUDUMBAM and their latest play NERADI OLIPARAPPU.

TV Varadharajen blossomed into a Chinnathirai Artiste, thanks only to Veteran Director K.BALACHANDER who shaped him into a great Character actor and put his ISI Stamp that has worked wonders with his chinnathirai roles. His head bows and his hands fold at the mere mention of his Master-KB’s name, not to speak of his presence. Now he has around 40 serials to his credit with a variety of characters neatly performed. He has done more than 10 movies as well.

Varadharajen, as a News Presenter had the longest innings with the Doordarshan, Chennai for nearly 20 years. His live presentation of Election Results from Philipines for Raj TV in 1996 got him very great recognition as a Political Analyst. Varadharajen made his mark in SUN TV as the launching host for their Breakfast programme, VANAKKAM TAMIZHAGAM He was presenting MUDHAL PRADHI, a news based analytical programme in Vijay TV for more than a year.

Varadharajen has an abnormal emotional attachment for his troupe UNITED VISUALS. He is almost fixated on it. It is his family and strength, so to say. The history of any troupe is driven by individuals. VARADHARAJEN does not fall into the gaps between history and headlines; destiny and destination. His place is unique. No wonder TVV shakes hands with people’s hearts.

In his desire to promote local talents in foreign countries, he has visited Kuwait five times and Dubai twice with his selected artists, and staged his popular plays with the participation of talents living abroad.

He has also gone to US thrice – once to California in 2005, to Houston & Dallas in 2006 And in July 2008, he was in Pitsburg to participate in the Tamilnadu Foundation meet and staged his drama MEGA SERIAL in association with Meenakshi Theatres, Houston. Novelty of this US trip was the total participation of artists living abroad. TVV alone flew there with the script, directed them performed his role alongwith them, and staged two shows in each visit. Patrons living abroad are taken aback by his leadership quality and temperament without compromising on the quality of presentation.

He has also participated in the Cultural shows of TV Artists in Srilanka, Singapore and Dubai and won appreciation for his presentation.
