Biography

J.Vaidhyanathan hails from a family of Legendary musicians. He is the son of “Sangeetha Kalanidhi” Sri D.K. Jayaraman and the nephew of “Padma Vibhushan” Smt D.K. Pattammal. He is a disciple of “Sangeetha Kalanidhi”, "Mridanga Chakravarthi" Maestro Dr T.K. Murthy.

He has won several awards and titles in his 33 years of concert experience.

He has been invited regularly by All India Radio for Sangeetha Sammelan and National Programmes. Needless to say, he has been travelling all over the world frequently.

He has accompanied many Carnatic stalwarts, including “Sangeetha Kalanidhis” Sri D.K. Jayaraman, Smt D. K. Pattammal,Bharat Ratna Smt M.S. Subbulakshmi, Smt M.L. Vasanthakumari, K.V. Narayanaswami, Dr Semmangudi Sri Srinivasa Iyer, Dr M Balamuralikrishna, Sri T N Krishnan and Sri M S Gopalakrishnan and other great maestros like '"Padma Bhushans" Dr S Balachander, Lalgudi Sri G Jayaraman et al.

Yuva Kala Bharathi

He was the first mridangist to receive the Yuva Kala Bharathi Award and the Vellore Gopalachariar Memorial award from Sruti Magazine...and now the first mridangist to receive the most coveted 'Isai Peroli' (2010)

Kalaimamani

In 2006 he received the prestigious "Kalaimamani" Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu, the highest state award for Arts, being the youngest mridangist to be honoured with the award
